Since the establishment of the International Eye Bank in 1961, up to now the society has donated 34600 corneas to Sri Lankan recipients and 53830 corneas to the recipients in 117 towns in 57 countries. In addition to this over 30000 corneas had been donated for research and development work.
Donor corneas are tested for HIV 1 & 2, Hepatitis B & C, and VDRL. |
